How to Quantum Leap Without the Drama
Oct 17, 2026"We do not have to have drama within our ruckus, within our rumble, within our rupture."
I said that on the podcast, and I meant every word. Because when people ask me how to quantum leap, they usually expect me to tell them it's going to hurt. That everything has to fall apart first. That the leap only comes after the crash.
I don't believe that anymore. Let me show you why.
What does it actually mean to quantum leap?
We hear it all the time in the spiritual world. Quantum leaping. Collapsing timelines. It sounds big and cosmic, and it is. But it is also very ordinary.
To me, a quantum leap is when your life shifts faster than your mind thinks it should. The change you expected to take ten years lands in one. The friendship you asked for turns up at the school gate. The thing you were sure would take forever simply happens.
Here is the part most people miss. You are not just a body. You are a human, a spirit and a soul, and all three get to play together. When you only identify as the human, the one rushing around with a list and not enough hours, everything feels slow and heavy. When you let yourself feel how much bigger you really are, things start to move.
But you can't force it. As I said in one of my early episodes:
"Einstein Time is something that you have to be. It's not something that you can think yourself into."
The myth: you have to break down to break through
There is a story running through the coaching world and the personal development space. It says you have to crumble before you can rise. You have to lose everything, hit rock bottom, and then, finally, you get your leap.
When we leave a job or a relationship, or want to move across the country, or simply want change, so many of us create conflict. Not because we need it, but because that is how we have watched other people change their lives.
"We have to have a breakdown, to have a breakthrough. What if that wasn't true? What if that was only true, because that's what we thought had to be true?"
Sit with that for a moment. Notice how it feels in your body.
Change will still come. Uplevelling any part of your life brings movement in your friendships, your finances, your body, the way you show up in the world. It can feel like a rupture. But a rupture is not the same as drama. One is energy moving. The other is a story we add on top.
I've seen this so clearly in my own friendships. Relationships come and go and flow, and sometimes you are simply no longer a vibrational match. That doesn't need a fight or a falling out. As I said in my episode on uplevelling without the drama, "We don't need the drama to end a friendship." You can love someone, thank them, and let the friendship change shape.
The truth: a hard wave is often the leap itself
Here's something that surprises people. Feeling low does not mean you've fallen off your path.
"If you are going into a wave or a cycle or a bit of a dark night of the soul, a lot of my clients call it, you're probably in a leap."
My husband Luke said something on the beach that I haven't stopped thinking about. He was watching the waves roll in, and he said you can either stand there and get smashed by them, or you can dive under, or lie back and float over the top.
That is emotional mastery. Not pretending you feel amazing. Owning where you are, unapologetically. I'm tired. I'm scared. I'm emotional. And then letting the wave move through you rather than fighting it.
I saw it with my daughter one morning. She was crying and didn't know why. I didn't try to cheer her up. I got her a cold flannel, put on one of her favourite songs, and let her sit and eat her toast. She was tired and in a wave. Nothing was wrong with her. She was being human.
So when the big feelings come, sense into them rather than meditating them away. Ask yourself what you're resenting, where you're feeling bitter, where you could take a little more responsibility. That is where the real shifts happen.
How to quantum leap: three things I keep coming back to
People sometimes look at my life and think it all happened overnight. It didn't. I was a hairdresser in a small New Zealand town when I woke up to my gifts at 33, and everything since has been built one small choice at a time.
"No one built their business overnight. Nobody found their joy and their peace overnight."
So here are the three things I keep coming back to.
One: be present. When I'm in my head, rushing, worrying about what's next, replaying the past, everything slows down. I go into hustle mode, stress mode, drama mode. When I come back to this moment and listen to my body, things open up. "If you take full responsibility that you are the creator of time and you get to actually deal with what's coming up in the present moment, being present helps you to collapse those timelines and to quantum leap."
I felt this on a drive to my favourite place in the world. A trip that always takes me around six hours took about four. I honestly don't know the maths of it. What I do know is how I felt: calm, expanded, completely in the moment.
Two: do it your own way. I once read an email from a very successful coach and spent the next while walking around my house feeling heavy and not good enough, trying to work out how to copy her. Then I caught myself. I had bought into somebody else's reality.
"To quantum leap, and to collapse timelines, is about doing it in your own way. It means, what is serving me right now?"
I take what I love from the people I learn from and leave the rest. Some of us need to move all day. Some of us need to rest. What is your body telling you?
Three: take the small step, every day. The little daily practices are not extras. Breathwork, meditation, moving your body, journalling, sitting with a cup of tea and actually feeling your feelings. I used to think those were the nice additions on top of the real stuff. "In fact, it isn't the extras. It is the actual work."
"If you're taking a step, a micro step, every day you will end up with a macro result."
There is no spiritual hierarchy in a quantum leap
One last thing, because I see it a lot. When people start to shift, they can start to feel better than others. More awake. Higher vibe. More spiritual.
I talked about this in my episode There Is No Spiritual Hierarchy. My dad mows lawns, goes tramping, smokes mussels and loves his grandchildren. Mum is a cleaner and sees the joy in her work. They aren't interested in the spiritual conversations I have all day, and I cannot say I'm better than them. Not for a second.
Some people won't leap with you, and that is their choice. You don't need to push them away or convince them of anything. You hold your own standard, find the common ground, and keep walking your own path.
"You're not here to save or persuade or convince. You're here to just be."
So here is my invitation. Feel into one area of your life that is ready to shift. Notice whether you've been quietly waiting for it to fall apart first. Then ask yourself, what is serving me right now? And take one small step, today, without the drama.
You were born with everything you need for this. Your intuition, your heart, your body. They have been speaking to you all along.
