Divine Timing: Why Your Manifestation Is Not Late
Oct 17, 2026"Where is my ego louder than my desire?"
That is the question I ask myself every time I catch myself pushing. Every time I want it now. The money now, the house now, the person now.
If you have ever asked the universe for something and then sat there tapping your foot, this is for you. Manifesting with divine timing is not about waiting around. It is about knowing your desire is on its way, taking aligned action when it feels right, and getting your ego out of the driver's seat long enough to let it land.
I have learned this the hard way. More than once.
What divine timing really means for manifesting
Most people think manifesting works like an online order. You place it, you track it, and if it is late you complain.
The truth is, a true desire doesn't run on your clock. You can be specific. You can say what you want and even when you want it. I do. But you also have to stay open to it arriving in a way you never imagined, because if you close that door, you miss so much.
"Because if it's a true desire and time is not linear, then you will get it exactly how you want to get it, when you want to get it, and probably better."
Probably better. That is the part we forget. So when I ask for something, I finish with three little words: this or better.
Those words are my way of saying: I know what I want, and I trust that something bigger than me can see further than I can.
When the ego gets louder than the desire
A few years ago, an opportunity came up to move to the beach. The beach had been my dream for as long as I can remember. I felt it in my whole body. I was in the bath, lit up, already living there in my mind.
And then my ego took over. I want it. I want it now. If it doesn't happen within three months, I don't know how I'll feel.
I told my husband I was going to push for it. He sat down and said he felt sick. He felt it before I did. It wasn't right.
So I dropped it. I felt my ego deflate, and I came back to faith. I still knew I was moving to the beach. I just stopped trying to drag it there.
A year later, my auntie and uncle asked if they could buy our house. We swapped homes, and we made it to the beach. Not the house on the hill. Not the short walk to the sand. But the beach.
And then, on a picnic with my family, we noticed an open home sign. We walked in, and there it was. An A frame house, the shape I had loved since I was a kid. Five bedrooms. A view from every room. A walk straight down the hill to the beach. My daughter ran in and claimed her room before I had even taken it in.
Everything I had been asking for, for years, arrived on an ordinary afternoon when I wasn't even looking.
I talked about this whole story on the podcast in the episode on divine timing and the seasons of manifesting. The point of it is simple. Don't be hasty. Don't give up.
"The problem is most people give up on the dream. And that's something I haven't done."
This or better: why surrender is not giving up
Here is the myth: surrender means quitting. Here is the truth: surrender is the bravest thing you will ever do with a dream.
Before the beach house came, I sat with that desire for nearly two years. It was so close. It felt like mine. I kept swinging between highs and lows, and I couldn't find my way back to a calm, neutral place.
So I let it go. I said, bring me that or something better. I kept showing up. I kept doing the work I love. And I stopped gripping.
"The hardest thing I had to do was give it up. But by giving it up, I got it."
I did the same thing with my husband, years before. I knew from the first time I saw him at sixteen that he was going to be the father to my children. And still, we had to let each other go for two whole years before we found our way back. We reconnected, we married, and we had our babies.
"Divine timing is a beautiful thing and surrendering is a beautiful thing."
Surrender is not settling. It is releasing your grip so the thing can actually reach you.
The how is none of your business
This is the part that sets people free, and it also drives them a little crazy.
Your what is your business: what lights you up, what you want to create. Your why is your business too, and it runs soul deep. But the how?
"The how is absolutely none of your business until it presents itself to you."
I remember a time when I couldn't afford a coffee. A friend offered to buy me one. I said thank you, and I told her that I would never not be able to buy a coffee again, and that I would be the one taking her out. I didn't know how. I didn't need to. I just knew it was coming, and I kept walking towards it.
That is my story, and I share it because it shows what faith actually feels like in the body. It is not certainty. It is knowing without proof.
"Faith is faith into knowing that it's happening even when you don't know it's happening."
When you try to work out the how before you are clear on the what and the why, you end up micromanaging the universe. And the universe does not need a manager.
How to work with divine timing, not against it
So what do you actually do while you wait? You don't sit on the couch. Going with the flow means taking aligned action on what is showing up for you, even when it feels scary.
Here is how I hold it.
Feel for the yes. Notice what feels correct in your body, expansive, light, true. Act on that. When it feels like pushing, pause and ask where your ego is louder than your desire.
Be grateful for where you are. Before we moved, I was so grateful for the house we were in, the road I ran on every day, the friends around the corner. Gratitude keeps you open. Complaining keeps you stuck.
Keep showing up. Stepping stones and sidesteps are part of it. Some things fall through. Some doors close. Keep walking.
"And maybe you won't land in the exact same spot that you thought you would, but you will land."
So here is my invitation. Take one desire you have been gripping. Say it out loud, then add those three words: this or better. Notice how your body softens when you do.
Then let the universe do its part, and you do yours.
